Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are actually open and may close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home using a combined gross residence earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family profits does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for nsfas status every annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are researching or plan to research at a public university or TVET college in nsfas status South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for here NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
